Antares Annual Workshop 2018

ANTARES Annual Workshop was held from March 20-22, 2018 and it gathered more than 600 national and international participants. ANTARES Workshop also marked the opening of the First Digital Farm in Serbia and the region in the village of Krivaja, near Backa Topola. With this event, a new era in digitization of agriculture in Serbia has begun, portraying an important step in advancement of agricultural production in our country.

The Digital Farm was officially opened by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Ms. Ana Brnabic. In addition to Ms. Brnabic, during the Opening Ceremony, high-level officials addressed the audience:

H.E. Sem Fabrizi Ambassador and Head of Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia and Dr. Stefan Weiers, Deputy Head of Unit, B5 Spreading Excellence and Widening Participation, Directorate General for R&I, European Commission. They expressed their satisfaction with the current developments in digitization of agriculture in Serbia and efforts made by BioSense Institute, as well as the importance of such an endeavour not only for Serbia but also for the Western Balkan countries.

The audience was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Vladimir Crnojevic, Director of BioSense Institute and Mr. Istvan Harmati, Director of Krivaja d.o.o where Digital Farm is located.

Many farmers from local communities who gathered during the three-day event were presented with the latest technologies developed or advanced at the BioSense Institute, such as Digital Platform AgroSense, new sensors, robots, and communication systems.

The opening of the Digital Farm has generated a lot of media attention, bringing in the spotlight not only the farm, but also the ANTARES project and its aim to transform BioSense Institute into the European Centre of Excellence.
