The First Digital Farm in Serbia and the region

In March 2018, the BioSense Institute launched the First Digital Farm in Serbia in the village of Krivaja, near Bačka Topola, which enabled Serbian and regional farmers to get firsthand information on how they can improve production with the help of digital technologies: how to achieve the best possible results with less resources.

To integrate our scientific findings into the society, educate all relevant actors in the digital transformation of agriculture, and create impact in the long run, we have organized Digital Farm Open Days in Krivaja, during the entire production season, from April to October 2018. Farmers had a chance to see and test different AgTech solutions in real-world settings. They learned firsthand on how technologies can optimize different crop production phases: from soil preparation, development of management zones, seeding, irrigation, nutrition, and plant protection to harvesting and preparatory activities for the next season. Optimization of production directly provides higher yield with minimum risks and investments, and tackles ecological problems such as underground water pollution, decreased biodiversity, and soil quality degradation. So far, more than 700 visitors had a glimpse in the future of agriculture. Besides farmers, the event gathered industry and business representatives, policy makers, pupils, students, and other interested visitors, developing broader innovation-driven ecosystem.
